Open House to the World
Place your signs and have your baked cookies ready. The entire nation, as well as the rest of the world will be looking at Tampa due to the amount of people coming to the area this week. History will be made in Tampa August 27-30, when around 2,300 delegates and 2,120 alternate delegates from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories gather together to nominate the next president of the United States at the 40th Republican National Convention.
Everybody from the Democratic mayor, to restaurateurs, to simply the men and women on the street are feeling excited and anticipating the four-day event that opens Monday at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
Even though the Tampa-Hillsborough County area has experience with high-profile events like the Super Bowl (four times since 1989), the World Series, and the Stanley Cup Finals – the convention brings a new level of participation and expectations!
This is our open house to the world as an up and coming city. Based on our research, the economic boost could exceed $175 million. Local restaurants like our friends at Rigatoni in south Tampa are already experiencing some of the economic ripple effects from the big splash this RNC is making here in Tampa.
